Exhibitions

Exhibitions are an important part of our educational outreach. In what we call “cabinet exhibitions,” we present selected exhibits two or three times a year. The themes explore aspects of Wittenberg’s history of the Reformation and scholarship. In doing so, we aim to highlight how multifaceted, controversial, and diverse the topics and issues of that era were, and what role the University of Wittenberg played in shaping the academic and scholarly landscape. In addition to the University and the city of Wittenberg, the exhibitions also specifically focus on events and figures from the surrounding region. This approach is intended to foster cultural exchange between the RFB and institutions in the region.

To preserve the collection, the cabinet exhibitions are only on display in the library for approximately three months. Afterward, you will find the virtual exhibition here, sometimes supplemented with images and additional information. The exhibition comes to life only through you: Immerse yourself in past worlds of knowledge.
