Guided tours in the RFB

Altbestände in der Forschungsbibliothek

The Research Library for Reformation Studies also opens its doors to visitors and offers various public guided tours through its rooms.

“Book break” – short, guided tour at lunchtime

A short lunch tour, the “Book Break”, is held every Thursday at 12:45pm with visitors guided through the rooms of the library. At the end of the tour, a special item from the library’s holdings is presented.

Since the library currently has the cabinet exhibition “Wilhelm Traugott Krug – My Life Journey. Six Stations, Six Positions” on display, it will be featured as part of the “Book Break” tour.

Stacks tour

A guided tour of the stacks is offered on the first Monday of the month at 4pm.

The RFB has more than 100,000 prints and manuscripts from the Middle Ages and the early modern period. This valuable collection is stored in specially secured rooms of the castle, to which users and visitors of the research library usually do not have access. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.

For climatic reasons, the number of participants is limited to five people per tour. Please register for these tours by phone on +49 3491 5069-200 or by email to sekretariat@rfb-wittenberg.de

Guided tours of the stacks and of the public rooms of the RFB are also possible outside of these fixed times. All tours can be conducted in German or English as required. Selected works from the collection will be shown, depending on the arrangement made. Enquiries can also be directed to the RFB secretariat.

Participation in the guided tours of the stacks costs €3 per person (€2 concessional) and prior registration is required. The meeting point is the visitor centre of Wittenberg Castle, which can be reached via the castle courtyard.

All are welcome to visit the RFB without a guided tour free of charge during opening hours.
